Now it is mandatory to install smart electricity meter, these new rules are coming
The central government is now going to take big steps in the power sector. For the first time in the country, electricity consumers will get new electricity. For this, the Ministry of Power has sought suggestions from the general public and state governments on the Electricity Rules, 2020.
Now you will get an electricity connection only when you are ready to install a smart or prepaid meter. If there is any doubt about the electricity bill, the distribution companies will give you the option to get real time usage details. The Ministry of Energy is going to enact legislation through new consumer regulations. The consumer can manually install the smart or prepaid meter or take it from DISCOM.
There will be no pressure on the consumer to take a meter from the discom. The consumer will have the option of manually sending the bill details. Not only this, the distribution company will not be able to send you the wrong provisional bill,
In case of emergency, provisional seeds can be sent only 2 times in a financial year. It may be mentioned that in the Corona era, companies have sent large bills in the name of temporary bills. This provision has been made by the Ministry of Energy in the draft Consumer Rights 2020.
If a customer’s bill arrives 60 days late, then the customer will get a discount of Rs 2-5 on the bill. You can pay your electricity bills by cash, check, debit card or net banking. But bills of 1000 or more will be paid online only. The rules have been simplified by cutting off electrical connections, taking second, changing meter, billing and payment.
